Can I expedite my USCIS case, and how do I request it?

USCIS will consider expediting a case only under specific, limited circumstances — it's not something available just because you want your case processed faster.

Common qualifying reasons include:

  • Severe financial loss to a company or person
  • Emergencies or urgent humanitarian situations
  • Nonprofit organizations whose request is in furtherance of cultural or social interests of the U.S.
  • U.S. government interests
  • Clear USCIS error

To request one, you typically contact the USCIS Contact Center or, for some form types, submit a request through your online account, along with supporting evidence for whatever reason you're citing. Approval is entirely at USCIS's discretion — there's no guaranteed outcome, and most requests without a genuinely qualifying reason are denied.

This is general information, not legal advice. For anything specific or unusual about your case, a licensed immigration attorney can advise on your situation directly.
